G’day all, I came across the Mountain Goat ‘Goat Guide’ at work the other day and I thought that I would replicate what the brewery’s says about their core beers and then link to my own reviews when available. Also, if anyone is interested you can visit goatbeer here where I also got this great picture from (wanted to use my own but I couldn’t beat that)

1) Steam Ale – Style: Hybrid/Steam Beer

Appearance: Pale, almost yellow, with a slight yeast-cloudiness. White Foam.

Aroma: Fruity and tropical depending on the hop season we use a blend of Aussie and Kiwi hops.

Flavour: Crisp and clean. A solid does of wheat male makes for a dry finish.

Malt: Ale and Wheat. Hops: Cascade and Galaxy.

2) Hightail Ale – Style: Amber Ale

Appearance: Deep copper/amber colour. Slightly beige head.

Aroma: Subtle fruitiness, which makes way for toffee-like crystal malt notes. We get this using a seasonally-dependent blend of Aussie and American hops.

Flavour: Ale, Crystal and Roast malt combine to deliver toffee and nut-like flavours. Palate is clean and dry.

Malts: Ale Munich, Wheat, Crystal and Roast. Hops: Cascade and Galaxy.

3) Pale Ale– Style: American Pale Ale

Appearance: Goldern

Aroma: Pine and stonefruit

Flavour: Clean, dry, fruity palate.

Malt: Ale, Crystal. Hops: Centennial, Cascade, Mosaic and Citra.

4) Summer Ale – Style: Summer Ale

Appearance: Pale gold. Thick white foam.

Aroma: Smells like summer. Fruity & floral, reminiscent of passionfruit and melon.

Flavour: Fruity up front, finishes crisp, dry and thirst-quenching.

Malts: Ale and Wheat. Hops: a blend of Australian and NZ hops including Nelson Sauvin, Motueka and Wakatu.

5) Fancy Pants – Style: Amber Ale

Appearance: Amber/Red, slightly off-white foam. Clear.

Aroma: Fruity, spicy.

Flavour: Initially malty with a floral, fruity finish on the palate.

Malt: Ale, Munich, Wheat, Crystal and Roast. Hops: Cascade and dry hopped with Galaxy.
